Photo shop elements 12 will work almost all camera files, but you must ensure that it will work with your own particular photo file extensions and with your own operating system.
Read other reviews before you purchase it. Based on other reviews, I would not install it with Photoshop CS. I like it because it's really good photo edit program almost like a real Photoshop CS. I've used Elements since v5, and have always appreciated the incremental improvements with each release. The tools are perfect for the amateur home user, allowing for rapid corrections and cropping.
More artistic aspirations are also catered for, although my goal tends to be realism rather than art. If had had one criticism it would be the lack of ability to set defaults for things like cropping and re-sizing.
I regularly crop large snaps down to xx72dpi , but tire of having to manually enter the figures. The album feature continues to improve, and the 'watch folder' feature seems more consistent than before. Also far easier to identify the source folders. Unlike some previous reviewers, I had no trouble installing Elements 12 on my laptop computer, and I'm hardly the techie type.
I'm also a complete newbie to Elements, so I don't have the disadvantage of having to unlearn the quirks of previous versions. However, I live in a rural area where high-speed wireless Internet service coverage is hit and miss, and my satellite connection Xplornet has daily download limits that prevent me from watching the Adobe tutorial videos whenever I want.
This means I have to be selective and choose only the one I want most. What impresses me most, so far, is the one click photo corrections I can make from the Quick mode of the Elements Editor. It makes my bird and wildlife photos look almost professional by restoring the blue to a blown-out sky or bringing out the highlights in an animal's fur. I've also tried using the Expert mode to remove a speck of dust from an object in a close-up photograph.
The dust was on the object, not on my camera's lens. To my amazement, the spot healing brush really worked. In future, I expect don't expect all the features of Elements 12 to be this easy to use. But the program is a good investment for anyone willing to take the time to practise with all its features. One person found this helpful. I learned there were some worthwhile improvements in PSE 12 so purchased the upgrade.
